As we age, due to the effects of gravity and skin sagging, our cheeks start to sag. Over time, this sagging can become visible below the jawline, leading to the so-called “hamster cheeks.” As a result, the jawline no longer appears smooth. Many people also develop a double chin, and when viewed from the side, the angle between the neck and the chin decreases. Both these signs betray an older age. Some people have a double chin even at a young age, making them often look older than they actually are. With the lipolaser treatment, heat is delivered subcutaneously with a special fiber to the fatty tissue and it’s melted away. Additionally, there is a skin tightening effect.
With the lipolaser treatment, heat is delivered subcutaneously with a special fiber to the fatty tissue and it’s melted away. Additionally, there is a skin tightening effect.
A lipolaser treatment of the under chin is done under local anesthesia. During the procedure, the doctor will first mark the problem areas. After anesthesia, the cannula is introduced subcutaneously through several small puncture holes. The doctor will move the cannula just below the skin, parallel to the skin, back and forth, with the fiber at the end of the cannula emitting the heat. This heat ensures that the fatty tissue is melted. The entry points for the cannula are so small (1.2mm) that they do not need to be sutured.
After the lipolaser treatment, the anesthetic fluid is still present under the skin. As a result, the area is still somewhat swollen. An absorbent bandage is applied, which you should wear for 2 days. This will absorb the fluid that still comes out of the puncture points. The pressure from the bandage counteracts the swelling and starts the process of the skin readhering. After removing the bandage, you can continue to wear it at home and at night as much as possible for several days to promote this process. In the first few days, there may be some swelling and bruising, which quickly disappears. The fat reduction will already be visible in the first weeks after the treatment and will increase weekly. The skin tightening occurs later. The final results are clearly visible after three to six months
Lipolaser treatment of the under chin and jawline is a minimally invasive procedure. The entry points for the cannula have a minimal diameter. Nevertheless, there is a small risk of developing an infection. To prevent this, antibiotics will be prescribed preventively for a few days. Furthermore, there is a slight risk of burns to the skin. These will heal spontaneously.
